War to the DeathBy Joseph Sala
Because It is so late in coming, Life, as we know it, still stretches on. The days weep in misery, For the Beast it is mighty. Herein lies his violent strength, Who cheats the world while Pretending he's almighty. "Carpe diem," he proclaims, "Let no one mistake, I've come for a fight." Armed with those of no faith And enemies of grace; Skin and bones fuel the fires, The battle looks lost. Promises, promises are all that we hear, But the Spirit is here, It's ours for the taking. Arise, arise, it's a war to the death, Victory comes to all who embrace Him.
Joseph Sala is a writer and a lay eucharistic minister at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. In a previous life he was a training consultant, librarian, and Roman Catholic.
